Recruiting Adults with Insomnia for Chamomile Research Study
Detroit, MISeeking people with insomnia (which has lasted longer than 6 months), and are 18 years and older. You need to be without any current diagnosis of chronic pain (e.g., chronic low back pain, arthritis), sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome or an untreated psychological, psychiatric, or neurological illness (including anxiety and depression). You cannot be taking any insomnia medication for this study, which examines the effects of the herb chamomile on chronic insomnia. Researchers at the University of Michigan are seeking volunteers to participate in a non-medication insomnia treatment research study. You may be eligible if you are between the ages of 18 and 65, have difficulty sleeping 3 or more nights per week, are not currently receiving treatment for insomnia, and are otherwise generally healthy. Participation in this study involves receiving a treatment for insomnia either over the phone or in written form. You will be asked to keep daily sleep diaries and to complete questionnaires about your sleep and daytime functioning before and after each treatment and at 3 months follow-up. U of M Research Study - HEALTHY COMPARISON SUBJECTS are needed
Detroit, MIBipolar disorder is known to run in families, however the exact number of genes involved is not yet known. Investigators are actively studying the genetics of bipolar disorder, along with illness outcomes, by monitoring persons with and without the illness for five years.
This study involves:
-Structured interviews
-Questionnaires
-Blood draw for genetics and biomarkers
-Compensation is $100 for the first study visit, and up to $150 for each year following
To qualify for this study you need to be:
-Aged 18-65
-Healthy adult with no self or family history of mental illness
-Eligibility is evaluated by a brief phone interview.
This study is conducted at the University of Michigan Depression Center; Department of Psychiatry, at the University of Michigan Health System, with support from the Heinz C. Prechter Bipolar Research Fund.

DEPRESSED ADOLESCENTS NEEDED
You will keep a fixed sleep schedule for 5-7 days at home, then spend sleep 3 nights at the Sleep and Chronophysiology Laboratory. You will receive up to $225 for participating in this study.
In order to enroll, you must:
Be 13-18 years old
Be mature physically
Currently have depression
Be otherwise medically and mentally healthy

Research Volunteers-Metabolism Study
Detroit, MIHealthy female and male volunteers needed, age 18-35, for research study to evaluate the impact of growth hormone secretion on weight gain.
To qualify:
be a healthy female or male 18-35 years of age
be of normal weight (Body Mass Index: 18-26 kg/m2)
not be participating in a regular exercise program (< 2 hours/week)
not be taking any prescription medication
be a non-smoker willing to stay overnight in the hospital
